Someone hiring an academic specialist has to guess the right search term. Guess wrong and the results are useless, so they close the tab and try somewhere else.
What we did
Built browsing that narrows by field and then by speciality, so a client reaches the right person by clicking through rather than typing keywords.
Held the browsing position in the web address, so a client can send a colleague the exact list they are looking at.
Gave every job its own page with filtering on the listing, so people can compare before they commit.
Split sign-up in two, one path for hiring and one for working, so neither side answers questions meant for the other.
