How long does it take to build a website in Kenya?
Devaltech · 5 min read
Most quotes in Kenya answer the price question and skip the timeline one, so you find out how long a build takes by watching it slip. Here it is stated up front: a launch date is agreed before any work starts, and it comes from a fixed five-step process, not a guess.
The five steps, and the week each one happens in
Discover is week one: a call and a look at what you already have, ending in a one-page plan, a fixed price and a date. Design runs weeks one and two, on your real homepage and one key page, and nothing gets built until you have signed it off. Build runs weeks two and three, watched on a private preview link rather than in status meetings. Launch is its own day: the domain moves, analytics and call tracking go live, and every form gets tested before it counts as done. Grow starts the month after and runs for as long as the site is live, one change read and tested at a time.
What actually moves the date
The steps are fixed. What changes the total is scope and how fast content comes back. A five page Starter site with photos and copy ready on day one moves through Design and Build quickly, because there is nothing to wait on. A ten page Growth site with a blog needs more of both, plus its two revision rounds, and each round only takes as long as your feedback does. The slowest projects everywhere, not just here, stall on the client side: a logo that never arrives, copy that takes three weeks to approve, a decision-maker who has not seen the preview link yet.
A launch date only means something if it was set before the work started, not adjusted once the work was already late.

What to ask before you sign anything
Ask for the launch date in writing, not a range. Ask what happens to that date if you are slow to send content or feedback. Ask whether revisions are counted or unlimited, since unlimited revisions with no fixed price usually means no fixed date either. If a quote cannot answer any of these, the date on it is a placeholder.
